Juliet Long to reign as 2016 Allentown Fair Queen

Lynn Township resident Juliet Long, 19, has been chosen to reign as the Allentown Fair Queen for 2016.

She succeeds 2015 Queen Aliza Nyce, of Germansville.

The daughter of Perry and Elisabeth Long, the new queen graduated from Northwestern Lehigh High School in 2015.

An honor student, she was a member of the National Honor Society, Drama Club, Cross Country and Track and Field.

A dean’s list student Long, a sophomore, attends Grove City College, Mercer County, where she majors in communications with an international studies and Spanish minor.

She was the 2014 4-H Barrel Racing State Champion, Pony Senior Division, the 2014 4-H Cutback Reserve State Champion, Pony Senior Division, 2014 Eastern Pennsylvania Gymkhana Association Junior Champion and 2014 Buxmont Riding Club Junior Champion.

She is involved in the Lehigh County 4-H Equine Club and enjoys barrel racing, running, reading and hiking.

Long wants to have a career in investigative journalism.

A panel of three judges, Michael Firestine, Scott Lindemuth and Jennifer Mickley, chose Long as queen during the Allentown Fair Association’s annual Allentown Fair Queen Contest Aug. 14 at the Columbian Home.

They told Master of Ceremonies Jeanine Villano-George they had a difficult time picking the best of these excellent entrants.

The judges chose Ayla Blatt, 17, of Kutztown as first runner up.

Blatt is the daughter of Brian and Susan Blatt of Kutztown.

A senior at Kutztown High School, she attended the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Agricultural Sciences at Penn State University this summer.

Very active in 4-H and FFA, having received numerous awards, she enjoys showing her animals at fairs and the annual Farm Show.

President of the Northern Berks 4-H Dairy Club, Blatt is also president of the Pennsylvania Junior Guernsey Breeders Association and Berks Junior Holstein Club.

She plans to attend Penn State and major in animal science and agriculture communications.

The other contestants included: Amber Hunsicker of Bethlehem, Felicia Wieder of Coopersburg, and Kathryn Kiskeravage and Taylor Evans, both of Allentown.
