Vera Cruz Homecoming Aug. 21
By The 65th annual Vera Cruz Homecoming, sponsored by the Vera Cruz Community Association and held rain or shine at Mystic Chain Park, is Vera Cruz’s version of a community block party. It is open to residents and nonresidents of Vera Cruz, noon to 8 p.m. Aug. 21.
Fans of local television personality “Uncle Jeffrey” will certainly want to stop by. Jeff Tapler, known as “Uncle Jeffrey,” will broadcast his weekly health and happiness show live from homecoming 3 to 5 p.m. The show will feature the music of “The Zepp Family Band.”
For other musical entertainment, “School’s Out” is returning to the homecoming this year and will take the stage noon to 3 p.m. “The Rehrig Brothers” will perform 5 to 8 p.m.
The day’s events will begin with a community service 9 a.m. at the Vera Cruz E.C. Church.
As always, the day will be filled with entertainment, cakewalks and a raffle drawing. Homemade food will be provided by the Vera Cruz Community Association. Additionally, food and entertainment will be provided by Bouncing Around. There will be children’s games and activities, including a bounce house.

Upper Milford Youth Association fall sports registrations are now open. UMYA offers the following sports in the fall: soccer, micro soccer, baseball and softball. Visit www.umya.org to register.
The Upper Milford Historical Society will meet 7 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Upper Milford Township building. Simonee deFuccio-Marhefka will offer an interesting look at the life and times of Uncle Jerry Roth, “Father of the Great Allentown Fair.” All are welcome.

The Upper Milford Fire Company’s ladies auxiliary meets 7 p.m. Sept. 5. New members are always welcome.
Vera Cruz senior citizens meet 1 p.m. Aug. 4 and 18 at the Vera Cruz Fire Company. All are welcome.
Upper Milford supervisors will meet 7 p.m. Aug. 4 and 18.
The Emmaus-Upper Milford Joint Environmental Advisory Council meets 7 p.m. Aug. 22 in Emmaus.
The Upper Milford open space committee meets 7:30 p.m. Aug. 10. There are currently two vacancies on the committee. If you are interested in serving, fill out an application form at the township office.
The Upper Milford Planning Commission meets 7:30 p.m. the Monday prior to the first Thursday of every month unless that is a holiday.
The recreation commission meets 7:30 p.m. Aug. 15.
Lower Milford Township board of supervisors will meet 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17 in the township building. Following is the schedule of other Lower Milford meetings in August. All meetings are 7:30 p.m. in the township building unless otherwise noted: historical commission, Aug. 9; recreation and open space committee, Aug. 10; zoning hearing board, 7 p.m. Aug. 10.
Lower Milford Township will hold its annual Fall Festival 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 24, rain or shine, on the township building grounds, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road.
