Volunteer opportunities
• Special Olympics, Bethlehem, needs volunteer soccer, basketball and gymnastic coaches for weekly practices. Soccer coaches will be needed 3-5:30 p.m. Sundays, August to November. Gymnastics coaches are needed 7:30-8:30 p.m. Thursdays, January to June. Basketball coaches are needed 6-8 p.m. Mondays, January to June.

• Kidspeace, Orefield, needs volunteers age 13 and older for the soccer invitational to help with traffic, raffle drawings and manning concession stands. • Community Bike Works, Allentown, needs “Earn-a-Bike” instructors for children ages 9 through 17. Volunteers will mentor and assist children in repairing bicycles. Commitment is 6-8 p.m. one night a week for 12 weeks. Call James Williams at 610-434-1140 or email james@communitybikeworks.org.
• Equi-Librium Inc., Nazareth, needs volunteers age 14 and older to help as horse handlers or side helpers to assist the riding instructor and/or therapist in carrying out riders’ Individual Program Plan. Other volunteer opportunities are available, such as office work, general barn assistance, fundraising and mailings. Training dates are Aug. 13, Sept. 10 and Oct. 15.

• Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley, Schnecksville, needs volunteers to help special needs children play baseball. Games last one hour and are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Fridays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays and 12:30-4 p.m. Sundays. • The Perfect Fit, Allentown, is looking for fashion-savvy volunteers to help low-income women choose appropriate and professional outfits. Volunteers should love working with people and have patience, enthusiasm and a love of fashion and how it can positively impact and empower women. Other duties include sorting, tagging clothing donations and keeping the boutique organized and appealing. Light lifting is required, and volunteers must be able to stand for approximately three hours and be knowledgeable about current style and business casual clothing trends.
