To the Editor:
As a lifelong photographer myself, I would meet Elaine H. Newhart at many functions, and the fact that I lived in Hokendauqua, a few blocks from her home/studio in Coplay, where we would visit and talk about cameras and lenses and such, made us fast friends.
When she moved to Cherryville, she became a member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church and was an originator of special church programs for Memorial Day that were also held at the Indianland Lutheran Church in alternate years.
She also was instrumental in taking color photographs of Confirmation classes and very often booked more of those important events that were always held on Pentecost Sundays, so she would call on myself and my two sons, Mark and John, to go to the churches that she could not get to.
Often, she would have appointments at churches in Coplay, Northampton, Neffs, Slatington, Slatedale and Indianland all at the same date and time.
Elaine loved being with people, loved photography and loved to drive and to stay busy, and I miss visiting with her.
Elaine H. Newhart died June 16, 2016, and many, many persons will miss the contact that they had with her through her photography.
