The International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners announced Monday the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office has earned accreditation.
The coroner’s office submitted to this process to ensure the operating policies, procedures and practices are within international guidelines.
Review of 230 standards including administrative, forensic, investigative and facility was completed.
IACME requires 100 percent compliance of mandatory standards and 90 percent of all applicable standards.
According to the IACME, when an agency elects to subject to this process it clearly indicates its desire to stand to peer review and demonstrates to the public and stakeholders a strong desire to provide excellence in service provision.
Completion of this process, which is for five years, indicates a professionalism and compassion by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim commented on receiving the accreditation in an email to The Press.
“This is our first accreditation since moving into our new Forensics Center and our third overall,” Grim stated. “The accreditation is good for five years. As you may know, our office was the second agency in the United States to achieve this accreditation in 2005.”
