The GFWC Pennsylvania Woman’s Club of Emmaus named Katharine Bacher, of Lower Macungie Township, Girl of the Month recently.

Bacher, a 2016 graduate of Emmaus High School, is recognized by the club for her achievements in mathematics.

A National Merit Finalist, Bacher was a member of National Honor Society and an officer of the Science Olympiad team and PA Math League. Bacher also was an athlete, running for the varsity cross country and track and field teams. She received a gold key Scholastic Art Award.

“I have been accepted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where I plan to study electrical engineering and computer science. I will also run competitively on MIT’s track and cross country teams. Ultimately, I plan to attend graduate school to earn my doctorate degree in engineering,” Bacher said.

She is a daughter of Ken and Dana Bacher.
