State Police Beat

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Andrew Stahr of New Tripoli allegedly used a credit card 12:01 a.m. May 16 and 5:45 a.m. May 29 belonging to a resident of the 6000 block of Scholler Road, Lynn Township, without authorization. The amount taken was $26.

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say a 26-year-old Alburtis man allegedly threw a plastic object from his vehicle and struck another vehicle during a road rage incident 11:50 a.m. on June 19 on Route 100 at Country Spring Road, Lowhill Township.

Charges were filed with District Judge Rod Beck, Slatington.

Timothy S. McLaughlin, 53, of New Tripoli, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup when it hit a 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 4:02 p.m. on June 27 on Route 309 at the Mauer Scott Inc., entrance, Lynn Township, say State Police Troop M Fogelsville.

According to police, the pickup was northbound on Route 309 in the right lane, approaching an intersection when McLaughlin allegedly failed to maintain a safe speed during a period of rain on a wet road and his truck hit the southbound Focus.

The pickup’s rear tires loss traction and McLaughlin lost control of the truck, police say.

The truck spun in a clockwise direction and crossed over the double yellow line, before proceeding north in the southbound land, hitting the car’s front bumper with its rear bumper. The pickup came to a final rest off the shoulder facing southwest, after hitting a tree stump.

The car came to a final rest after initial impact, while in the right lane of travel, facing southwest, police say.

McLaughlin, who was wearing his seat belt, reported a neck and back injury. He was transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital.

The pickup sustained disabling damage to its rear bumper. The car sustained disabling damage to its front bumper. Police did not provide the name of the car’s driver.

McLaughlin is facing charges of driving at an unsafe speed, police say.
