Come celebrate at Schmoyer family fireworks spectacular

Everyone is invited to gather family and friends for the 32nd anniversary of Schmoyer Funeral Home’s Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular July 2 in Earl Adams Memorial Park, 8935 Breinigsville Road, Breinigsville. Rain date is July 3.

“This is the 13th year in the Breinigsville Park,” Carl Schmoyer III told The Press.

Schmoyer will be using the same state of the art “Starfire” digital firing system as last year, which will guide the performance synchronized to a musical soundtrack.

The show design discussion which began in October 2015, was complete several weeks ago, Schmoyer said.

“Celebration Fireworks Design Manager Chris Hopkins, professional pyromusical designer, was instrumental in assisting to create the show,” Schmoyer said.

The show runs approximately 39 minutes and 39 seconds.

“We will also be incorporating some special effects during the spectacular never used before in Breinigsville or frankly in the area,” Schmoyer stated.

Fireworks include: blood-red to white peony with big blue pistil, multicolor peony in nishiki kamuro circle with four spangle tails, purple ghost peony with green pistil, red sunflower with three strobing tails, red, white and blue dahlia mines, nishiki kamuro Niagara falls with red pistil and many new effects never used before in the show.

“I was also very fortunate to be able to purchase some unique fireworks for the 2016 display from Albert Knoblach, who owns and operates Little Big Shots in Addison, Somerset County, one of the very few remaining fireworks manufacturers in the United States, Schmoyer said. “He is the only manufacturer of lampares in the world which are a crowd favorite here in Breinigsville. They create fire in the sky.

“It is such a pleasure to work with somebody like John Kemps, owner of Celebration Fireworks, and Chris, who have incredible knowledge regarding pyrotechnics.”

Jackie’s hand-cut french fries, So Cool Ice Cream Bus, Mama and the Poppers Kettle Corn, Breinigsville Youth Activities along with Post 8282 VFW, Breinigsville, will have refreshments available from 3 p.m.

The Municipal Band of Allentown will perform 7-8:15 p.m. and there will be an old-fashioned patriotic sing-along at 8:15 p.m.

Emmaus WTAP television personality Uncle Jeffrey will broadcast the show live at 3 p.m.

Steve Opliner from Macungie will sing the national anthem.

Good Will Fire Company, Trexlertown, will bring a ladder truck with a 30-foot by 50-foot American flag suspended from the ladder.

Before the fireworks begin, a presentation on the creation of The Declaration of Independence will be presented along with a reading of the 56 signers.

“These men mutually pledged to each other, their lives, fortunes and sacred honor,” Schmoyer said. “As long as I am involved in this celebration, we can pause a few minutes to hear the names of our founding fathers.”

Schmoyer said the Chinese sky lanterns will again be integrated into the show.

“They have been an unexpected big hit with the crowd. Patriotic music and readings will be used during the release,” Schmoyer stated. “Members of the audience have participated in years past and I hope to do the same this year.

“I would like to open the program by sending up 240 sky lanterns to honor the 240th birthday of our nation.”

Upper Macungie Township Fire Commissioner Grant Grim, along with key employees at the municipality, have assured us the park will be ready for the crowd,” Schmoyer said.

Members of Good Will Fire Company, No. 1, Trexlertown, and approximately 25 or so crew members from Celebration Fireworks will begin setup June 30.

Several volunteers from Gary and Linda Gorr’s family will help with the tear down and clean up after the show.

Retired Fire Chief Forrest Hausman and current Trexlertown Fire Police Capt. Calvin Fetherolf will handle traffic, parking and security.

Assistant Good Will Fire Chief Roger Conrad will handle safety and neighboring fire companies will stand by as well.

Entertainment Services Group, Trexlertown, will be assisting with the sound and lighting system and the Dietrich family from Four Seasons Garden Center will be providing the sand bags.

“Upper Macungie Township has been instrumental in assisting with this event that never in my wildest imagination would it have grown to the magnitude it has become,” Schmoyer stated.
