Realignment of Schoeneck Road approved
Approval was received for the relocation of Schoeneck Road and the Sauerkraut Road extension at the June 16 Board of Commissioners meeting. This process included Jaindl and East Penn School District. This project is privately funded.
The Mack Truck Land development project was also approved. This project includes some building enhancements for the company.
A Jewish synagogue has been proposed for a parcel of land along Grange Road. The address of the parcel is 1111 Grange Road and includes a six-unit community house, a place of worship and suitable parking. The name of the project is Beit Simcha Messianic Fellowship.
The adaptive signals around the new shopping center should be functioning shortly.
There will be a meeting with Upper Macungie and South Whitehall townships over improvements on Hamilton Boulevard.
The Lower Macungie Township official map was discussed. There are residents who are not in favor of this map. Some comments included ideas of keeping an open mind about the use of property.
The map has 11 components. They include cul-de-sacs, future road extensions, proposed recreation paths, parks, open space, preserved farms, exiting agricultural security area, existing wildland easement, lands to be acquired for parks and lands to be acquired for public streets, conservation easements and flood control basins.
The commissioners approved the official map.
A resident expressed her thanks for the approved dog park. She offered assistance in the completion and planning of the park. Marley, her dog, was quoted as saying, “thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
The issue of the Penn’s Meadow Pond was discussed with only one resident complaining about the wildlife. No further action over the pond will be continued.
Katheryn Dixon, who has offered her farm for preservation, is looking for subsidizing. Commissioner Brain Higgins is not in favor of this.
Plans are in the works for the Kratzer Farm design and planning.
There are concerns over crime at Walmart with the state police involved often. Walmart has state-of-the-art videos that identify theft. It was said Walmart is quite proactive over theft issues and works hard at loss prevention.
