To the Editor:
On June 13, we had a dog escape that might have ended badly.
My daughter Jill and her family are a Yorkie Rescue Foster Home. They serve as a temporary foster home for dogs transitioning to a forever home.
They had taken in a dog Sunday that needed emergency medical care for a couple different long term conditions. This dog, Chloe, was understandably stressed and confused by her new surroundings but was able to settle in and start to enjoy the love and attention she as receiving.
At about 11:15 a.m. June 13, Chloe panicked for some reason and escaped the fenced yard she had been using. Immediately, our family and a neighbor started trying to get a hold of this tiny, sickly animal. She would have nothing to do with this attempted capture and took off at high speed down the road.
As we started the search for her, neighbors, friends and strangers readily joined our crusade.
Long story short – by about 4:30 p.m., Chloe was located hiding in a garage by three young fellows and returned to her foster home.
With some of the negative things that can occur in a day, we feel it is important to recognize the significant positive support contributed by our Emmaus community. Because of the animal control officer through close acquaintances to people we don’t know at all, we are glad to live in a place where people care.
