LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Playground program begins June 20

Summer FUN

Salisbury Township’s annual summer playground program begins June 20.

Township children who are entering first grade through age 12 are eligible to participate. Program hours are 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evenings. Four parks (Green Acres, Lindberg, Laubach and Devonshire) will participate. Registration forms will be available at each park. The head counselors for the program are Patrick Jacoby and Kim Ringhoffer.

Children will be able to borrow books from the Allentown Library’s mobile book van. The van will visit the parks June 24 and July 1, 8 and 22. Children will need library cards to obtain the books, which can be returned to any park or the library.

The summer playground program will also host a soccer clinic July 11 to 14. The clinic, led by Jacoby, will provide an introduction to basic skills. Sign-up sheets will be available at all parks starting June 20.

There will be no program meeting on days with heavy rain or thunderstorms. Arrangements should be made to pick up children in the event of a thunderstorm during program hours.

A calendar of weekly events, such as arts and crafts days, movie nights and Salisbury’s annual playground day will be distributed at each park. The program ends July 29.
