The Salisbury Township Police Department worked with the Allentown Police Department May 23 in a dual department traffic safety enforcement detail.
Funding for this detail was provided by the Buckle Up PA grant. This detail was one of hundreds police across the state conducted for this wave’s kickoff.
Police all across the state will be increasing both day and evening enforcement for the next several weeks to target seatbelt usage and unsafe driving.
The detail was located on the Salisbury Township and Allentown City borderline on Fish Hatchery Road.
Officers were targeting the use of seatbelts and speeding violations. Officers stopped a total of 40 vehicles and issued a total of 43 citations, averaging about 10 citations per hour.
Of the 43 citations, 29 were for speeding, two were for unbuckled drivers and 12 for other miscellaneous violations. One motor vehicle was impounded for not being insured.
All motorists are asked to take a second and buckle up before driving and to make sure passengers are buckled up as well. In the event of a crash, it very well may save your life.
