Students of the Month are honored
Four Northampton Area High School seniors - Michael Kovalchik, Luke Altemose, Elizabeth Horvath and Bradley Hower - were cited by Northampton Exchange Club at its May 4 Service to Youth program held at Northampton Banquet & Event Center.
Dr. Rodger Berg, program chairman, said colleges and universities are looking at more than just academics when considering student admission applications, taking into account a more rounded background.
The four honorees have not only excelled in the classroom, but are outstanding in taking part in out-of-school activities, Berg said.
“They have shown leadership in communication skills and in extracurricular activities,” Berg said.
Addressing their success, Berg said the students’ families play a major role with the achievements the honorees have received, which are attributed to their upbringing much before now.
The Exchange Club presented the seniors with a Lamp of Knowledge plaque and certificate of award.
