Stephens Funeral Home celebrating 75 years of serving the community

To honor 75 years of service to the greater Allentown community, Stephens Funeral Home, 274 N. Krocks Road, Upper Macungie, will have a special celebration for the community at 5 p.m. June 12.

There will be refreshments, a magician, caricaturist, gift basket giveaway and the Macungie Band performing at 6:30 p.m.

For three generations, Stephens Funeral Home has been blessed with countless opportunities to serve friends, family and neighbors during times of great need.

In June 1941, Stanley S. Stephens Sr. started the Stephens Funeral Home in half a twin home on Linden Street, Allentown.

At that time, most funeral ceremonies took place in the home of the deceased.

Stanley wanted to open his home to the entire community so members could feel comfortable calling “his home their home for funerals.”

In 1971, Stanley S. Stephens Jr. assumed leadership of the family’s Linden Street home, expanding the spaces available to families while retaining the Stephens family’s commitment to respect, compassion and support during life’s most trying moments.

In 1988, Matthew S. Stephens joined his father at the family’s funeral home.

Over the next few years, Stanley’s son-in-law, Rodney S. Koch, as well as Sandra Lois Brink joined the family in funeral service.

In June 2015, the Stephens Funeral Home Family officially welcomed the community to its new home at 274 N. Krocks Road, Upper Macungie Township.

Rooted in the look and feel of Colonial Williamsburg, the new home was designed to continue the Stephens’ traditions of respect, compassion and support in a space perfectly suited to the family of today.

In keeping with these traditions, they look forward to continuing to serve families throughout the Lehigh Valley during their time of need for many more years to come.
