STATE POLICE
Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville conducted a sobriety checkpoint at State Route 222 southbound east of Krocks Road, Lower Macungie Township, overnight May 28. The checkpoint effort resulted in 203 motor vehicle stops, two arrests for driving under the influence, two misdemeanor drug possession arrests, one citation for driving under suspension and two citations for child safety seat violations.
Reported by residents in the 1600 block of Bogie Avenue, Lower Macungie Township, unknown actors entered unlocked vehicles parked in a driveway and removed a duffle bag and running shoes from one of the vehicles. The items were recovered a short distance from the scene.
Reported by a resident in the 4300 block of Redwood Circle, Lower Macungie Township, unknown actors removed multiple items from a vehicle between 4:30 p.m. May 23 and 7 a.m. May 24. Anyone with information about this incident may call Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville at 610-395-1438.
Reported by a business in the 400 block of Schantz Road, Lower Macungie Township, unknown actors removed a white 1991 Freightliner truck between 3 and 10:30 p.m. May 18. The vehicle was located in Whitehall Township. According to police, the vehicle was set on fire.
Reported by Sentner Auto Sales, 4580 Chestnut St., Upper Milford Township, unknown actors removed a 2006 Ford F-250 King Ranch short bed truck between 5:30 p.m. May 21 and 9 a.m. May 23. The truck is white and gold with a tan leather interior and carpet bed liner with a gooseneck attachment. George William Strauss, 52, of Macungie, was taken into custody and charged with allegedly driving under the influence after a traffic stop on South Cedar Crest Boulevard at Chestnut Street, Emmaus borough, 1:38 a.m. May 22. Charges were filed through District Court 31-2-03.
Reported by a resident in the 1600 block of Laurel Lane, Lower Macungie Township, tools were discovered missing when the resident was cleaning a garage at the residence. The tools were removed between April 30 and May 15.
Jeremy Joseph Boyle, 27, of Macungie, was charged with retail theft after he allegedly removed a container of protein powder from Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 5:26 p.m. May 24. Charges were filed through District Court 31-3-02.
Reported by Audi of Allentown, 4725 Hamilton Blvd., Lower Macungie Township, a male from Reading failed to return a vehicle loaned to him 12:53 p.m. May 9.
Reported by a resident in the 6000 block of Timberknoll Drive, Lower Macungie Township, unknown actors placed a couch from the garbage on the resident’s front porch and rang the doorbell.
A 15-year-old male, of Lower Macungie Township, was charged with drug possession after the vehicle in which he was riding was stopped on Hamilton Boulevard at Kressler Road, Lower Macungie Township, 1:08 a.m. May 23. According to police, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were recovered. Charges were filed through juvenile probation.
Reported by representatives of Kohl’s, 6900 Hamilton Blvd., Lower Macungie Township, a 29-year-old male and a 27-year-old male, both of Allentown, fraudulently opened Kohl’s credit cards at multiple locations and used the fraudulently obtained credit cards to make purchases May 7.
Reported by a resident in the 7500 block of Catalpa Drive, Lower Macungie Township, unknown actors attempted to scam a resident out of $1,800 by impersonating the resident’s son and requesting money for bail 2:22 p.m. April 19.
A resident in the 7300 block of Hillcrest Drive, Lower Macungie Township, attempted to purchase an ATV with a plow from a seller on a website 1:30 p.m. April 7. The resident paid the seller in ebay gift cards valued at $1,500. The seller stopped communicating with the resident and the email associated with the seller was deactivated.
Reported by a 64-year-old resident of the 1500 block of Par Causeway, Lower Macungie Township, an unknown actor called the resident, posed as the resident’s grandson and asked for $1,000 worth of iTunes gift cards to pay for issues with an incident in which the grandson was supposedly involved April 26. The resident agreed and provided the verification numbers for the gift cards by phone. The next day, April 27, the impostor called again and requested another $1,000 in iTunes gift cards. The Lower Macungie Township resident again purchased cards and provided the verification numbers by phone. After about a week had passed and the resident spoke with his grandson he realized he was scammed and contacted Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville.
Reported by two residents in the 3600 block of Clauss Drive, Lower Macungie Township, multiple items were removed from an unlocked vehicle between 10 p.m. and midnight May 6.
Reported by a resident on Spring Ridge Drive, Lower Macungie Township, unknown actors removed items from a vehicle between 2 p.m. May 16 and 4 p.m. May 17.
Reported in the 4900 block of Skytop Drive, Upper Milford Township, police responded 3 a.m. April 18 when a 29-year-old male was found unresponsive in the home as the result of a drug overdose. Naloxone was administered and the male was taken to Lehigh Valley Health Network, Cedar Crest.
Daniel Frankson, 30, of Macungie, was charged with alleged disorderly conduct after police responded to reports of a man yelling obscene language at Italiano Delight restaurant, 1985 Brookside Road, Lower Macungie Township, 6:02 p.m. June 1. Charges were filed through District Court 31-3-02.
