Whitney Houston tribute show comes to Alburtis
Alburtis Tavern owner Terry Bender welcomed a Whitney Houston tribute show to the Lockridge Banquet Facilities at Alburtis Tavern recently.
Bender warmly welcomed everyone and introduced Alex Allegra, a young singer/songwriter making her evening performing debut. Allegra sang and played the guitar. Her songs were all original.
Allegra was the opening act for a tribute to Whitney Houston by Jazmine, who traveled from California to perform. A captivating performer, with the looks, mannerisms and voice so similar to Whitney Houston, Jazmine presented an enjoyable show. As she sang, laughed, moved and interacted with the audience she performed “Saving All My Love For You,” “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” “I Believe in You and Me” and many more.
When Jasmine sang “I’m Every Woman,” the women in the audience joined in at her prompting.
Jazmine closed the show with “I Will Always Love You” followed by a standing ovation and shouts from the audience. After the show she greeted everyone individually and stood for photos and gave autographs and hugs.
Jazmine is originally from Long Island, N.Y. and started her performing career as a solo artist in Europe where she performed some of her own original songs for about four years. Jazmine said she actually fell into performing as Whitney Houston because the first time she sang a tribute to her the people loved it so much she has been doing it ever since. The first tribute performance was more than 16 years ago and Jazmine is still going strong.
Upcoming tribute shows at the Lockridge Banquet Facilities include a Johnny and June Carter Cash tribute scheduled Sept. 18; an Elton John and Billy Joel tribute show scheduled Oct. 9 and a Beatles tribute scheduled Nov. 13.
