UPPER AND LOWER MILFORD COLUMN Lower Milford Fire Company carnival opens June 8

It’s carnival time at the Lower Milford Fire Company on Limeport Pike. Dates are June 8 to 11. Grounds open 6 p.m., music and rides start 7 p.m. The fire company is still looking for donations for the silent auction.

The quarterly meeting of the Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society will be held 7 p.m. June 28 in the Upper Milford Township building, 5671 Chestnut St., Zionsville. After a short business meeting Neil Moser, local resident and president of the Upper Milford Historical Society will give a talk about the mills of Upper Milford Township.

Refreshments will be served. Guests are always welcome. Visit the society’s website at hivelunddahl.com.

The Upper Milford Historical Society will meet 7 p.m. June 30 in the township building. Frank Wills, award-winning powder horn and bag artisan, will talk about the historical significance and technique of early craftsmen. All are welcome.

On June 25, Upper Milford Western District Fire Company on Route 100 is having a chicken barbecue dinner 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The dinner includes a half chicken, baked potato, applesauce, roll and butter. This is the fire company’s main fundraiser. Call Rosie at 610-966-3367 for tickets or information.

Upper Milford Western District Fire Company will serve an all-you-can-eat breakfast 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 5 and July 3. There are senior, adult and children’s prices.

The Upper Milford Fire Company’s ladies auxiliary meets 7 p.m. June 6. New members are always welcome.

If your family is involved in any way with the Upper Milford Youth Association, join organizers for a family fun day 1 to 5 p.m. June 5 at Lenape Park. There will be plenty of food and games for UMYA families to enjoy. It is the association’s way of saying thank you to all who are a part of the UMYA family.

St. Peter’s Union Church is joining Zion’s Lutheran Church and other churches in Old Zionsville to sponsor a vacation Bible school June 20 to 24. Classes run 9 to 11:30 a.m. each day. Registration forms are available in the narthex or by calling the church office.

To help raise funds for this program, the church will hold a spaghetti supper and games event 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 10. All proceeds from this fun family evening will help support the vacation Bible school.

Vera Cruz senior citizens meet 1 p.m. June 2 and 16 at the Vera Cruz Fire Company. All are welcome.

Upper Milford supervisors will meet 7 p.m. June 2 and 16.

The Emmaus-Upper Milford Joint Environmental Advisory Council meets 7 p.m. June 27 in Emmaus.

The Upper Milford open space committee meets 7:30 p.m. June 8. Now that supervisors are preparing a referendum question asking residents to approve a small tax increase to help preserve open space in the township, the open space committee will be busy preparing information to educate the public about the issue. The Upper Milford planning commission meets 7:30 p.m. the Monday prior to the first Thursday of every month.

The recreation commission meets 7:30 p.m. June 20.

Lower Milford Township board of supervisors will meet 7:30 p.m. June 20 in the township building.
