Q: What grade are you in?

A: I am in the 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite subject is music because it’s a true expression of who I am.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: Recently, I placed first at the South Bronx invitational and I’m going to Nationals in San Diego with the Emmaus High School Fitness Team. I received an award for excellence in public speaking. I also was voted player’s player and MVP for girls varsity tennis this year where I played second singles.

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: I am highly involved with the music programs, which include Select Choir, Acca Bella, women’s choir, and Chorale. I’m also a club officer in Interact Club which works closely with the Emmaus Rotary Club. I also played tennis throughout my high school career and picked up fitness team this year. I also did the musicals sophomore and junior year. I’m on the principal’s advisory board and I’m a Hornet Ambassador. I’m also a tutor coordinator at Emmaus.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: I plan to go to Indiana University of Pennsylvania to study vocal performance and physical therapy.

Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A: My biggest challenge has been all the limits set upon me. Those limits range from financial to people telling me I can’t do something. However, limits are meant to be met and I broke all the limits set upon me.

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?

A: I want to be remembered for helping others. I want to be remembered for giving my all to those who might have even less.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: I live with my mom, Jennifer and my stepfather, Karl and my two unforgettable cats Kaliyah and Kairo.

Q: Do you have someone you look up to?

A: I look up to my mom and her five sisters. Although they’re all very different, they all share the same base values. They’re probably the most wonderful women anyone will ever meet. They’re beautiful, smart, funny, outgoing, and successful. That is everything I strive to be and more.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: One thing I would say to my peers is this: always be yourself and express yourself truly as you are. Don’t let the negativity of this world get to you. We are all here to live our lives and not anyone else’s. So anytime you start living for someone or making decisions based off of what others are doing stop and think. Express yourself openly and with love and compassion toward others. Don’t let fear run your life and be yourself with all the exuberance for life itself. In addition to that, accept everyone for who they are. I’m not saying you have to be friends with everyone but be respectful and kind. A world run by love and acceptance is a lot better than a world run by hate and fear.
