State Reps. Ryan Mackenzie, R-134th, and Gary Day, R-187th, recently announced several volunteer fire and emergency medical service companies in their districts will share more than $110,000 in state grants.
The Cetronia Ambulance Corps will receive $7,201.70. Cetronia Volunteer Fire Company, will receive $13,789.79.
The money is distributed through the Pennsylvania Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program, funded by state gaming proceeds.
“Public safety is a core priority of state government,” said Mackenzie. “Making these grants available to the brave men and women who have volunteered to protect us will enable them to more quickly and effectively respond to emergencies.”
Mackenzie’s office contacts eligible departments in the district each year to offer assistance with the grant application process.
Day commented on the grants.
“Our area first responders are a vital part of our communities, as they dedicate so much of their time to keeping us safe, upgrading their equipment, attending trainings and raising money to keep their operations going,” Day said. “To help them better afford to provide these services, the commonwealth has a grant program available that will help offset some of the costs they incur.
