A resident in the 2300 block of Ellsworth Street reported 2 p.m. May 13 receiving a telephone call informing them they owed $6,000 in back taxes. The caller said they were from the Internal Revenue Service.

A resident in the 1200 block of Voortman Avenue received a telephone call 4:41 p.m. May 13 informing them a family member was in jail being held on drug charges. The resident was advised to get $2,000 in American Express gift cards and call back with the gift card numbers. The resident went to CVS, got the cards, went home and called the number, giving the caller the pertinent information. The resident called police within two hours. Police went to CVS and then called American Express who voided out the cards and re-issued new cards to the victim. Police are reminding residents never to send money over the telephone.

A resident in the 600 block of East Wayne Avenue reported 8 a.m. May 19 an unknown actor charged $1,000 to a debit card which never left the resident’s possession. Police are investigating.

A resident in the 2200 block of Cypress Avenue reported 10:14 a.m. May 15 an unknown actor removed a GPS unit from a unlocked vehicle parked in front of the residence.

An unknown actor opened a Target credit card in a resident’s name in the 2400 block of West Rock Road which was reported to police 7:18 a.m. May 16. The person charged $2,136.53 to the account.

A resident in the 2300 block of South Albert Street reported 10:30 a.m. May 16 an unknown actor purchased two phones from Verizon on his plan without his authorization. The phones were purchased in California in 2015.

The Salisbury Township Police Department is investigating a report of an armed robbery occuring 2:20 a.m. May 17 at the Daisy Hill Market, 1848 E. Susquehanna St., Salisbury Township. An unidentified male entered the market, approached an employee and demanded cash from the register. The male brandished a dark handgun at this time. The actor was described as an Hispanic male approximately 5 feet 8 inches with a thin build. The male was wearing blue jeans, a dark jacket and a grey hoodie. The male was also wearing a dark knit hat and a covering around his face. The male was given an undetermined amount of cash and fled the store heading west toward Pinyon Lane. Nothing else was taken from the store and no one was injured during this incident.

Staples, 3300 Lehigh St. reported a retail theft 4:19 p.m. May 18. Police are investigating.
