Allentown Central Catholic’s junior and senior prom was held May 13 at DeSales University, Center Valley. Student council worked hard throughout the year to raise funds and complete all the planning, resulting in a fun and classy evening.
Sixteen Central students traveled to Penn State University to present or serve as technicians at the state level of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science May 15 to 17. Students developed and presented science projects locally at Easton High School in February and those who received a first award were eligible to compete at Penn State in May.
In addition to the science aspect, PJAS also provides a college-like experience, including sleeping in the dorms, navigating a large campus and keeping track of the food court schedule. Five ACCHS students received first awards at the state level.
On May 19, the newly elected members of student council were inducted in front of the student body. Officers for the 2016-2017 school year are Edward Manzella, president; Sofia Groves, vice president; Thomas Minutella, treasurer and Christina Marinos, secretary.
The Senior Farewell Mass will be held May 27, in Rockne Hall, followed by shirt signing and other senior festivities to conclude their last school day at Central Catholic.
Baccalaureate will be held 7 p.m. June 2 at St. Thomas More and graduation will be 7 p.m. June 3 at Rockne Hall on the ACCHS campus.
Final exams will run June 6 to 8. The last day of school for underclassman is June 9.
