Fogelsville Fire Company celebrating 100th anniversary

The Fogelsville Volunteer Fire Company, 7850 Lime St., Fogelsville, will be hosting a 100th anniversary Community Day celebration noon to 5 p.m. May 14.

There will be food, activities, bake sale and fun for all attending.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is offering Brown Bag Classics with the movie “Rebecca” 1 p.m. May 16.

Bring lunch. The library will provide the beverages.

Book Quest will meet 7 p.m. May 17 to discuss the novel “The Boys in the Boat” by Daniel James Brown.

Cookie story time for children ages 4 to 6 will be offered 2 p.m. May 18.

Enjoy cookie stories and songs followed by a special cookie decorating session.

Health coach Christina Moyes will discuss the three mistakes most women make that keep them frustrated with their bodies during the “All You Can Eat” seminar 6:30 p.m. May 18.

The library will be hosting a magazine exchange 2 p.m. May 19.

Bring old magazines to share with others, and come ready to take home others to enjoy.

There will also be a coupon exchange to collect and share coupons with others at 3 p.m. that day.

Join the writing workshop, “What’s Your Story” 3 p.m. May 24.

This workshop is designed to help writers learn how to write memoirs.

The Joy of Coloring class will be 6:30 p.m. May 24 and 3 p.m. on May 25.

The library will provide the coloring pages and pencils.

These events are free and will be held at the library.

Upper Macungie Township will be holding a disc golf opening day 9 a.m. to noon on May 14 at Upper Macungie Park, 1625 N. Route 100, Fogelsville.

Experienced disc golf players will be there to help. Discs will be available for free.

Light refreshments will be available for purchase.

Zion’s Union Church, Maxatawny, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, has announced the Bike for World Hunger will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 21 at the Bob Rodale Fitness and Cycling Park, Trexlertown.

This annual event is sponsored by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod to raise money for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal.

Registration begins 8:30 a.m. at the picnic pavilion.

Every participant must have an individual registration and signed release to participate. Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian signature.

The Mission Team at Ziegels, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, will be holding its annual shrimp boil May 22.

Menu includes a salad, a half-pound of shrimp, sausage, corn, potato, drink and dessert.

Children’s meal includes salad, quarter pound of shrimp, sausage, potato, half a cob of corn, drink and dessert.

Eat in or take out will be available.

All orders must be placed by May 18.
