Track teams end regular season, set for leagues

Northampton High School’s track and field team ended its regular season at home last week and began league competition this week at Whitehall High School.

The girls finished the season at 6-5 and the boys finished at 3-8.

In the K Kids’ final meet against Nazareth, Joelle Perelli broke the Al Erdosy Stadium record in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:46, which broke the old record of 11:56 set by Caitlin Perry in 2011.

In addition, the girls’ 4x4 relay team of Lauren Sterner, Hannah Flaven, Olivia Daniels, and Alexis Barrall set the Al Erdosy Stadium record with a time a 4:15.

On the first day of the East Penn Conference Track and Field Championships, Perelli placed 7th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:37. Isaac N’Jenga also competed in the 3200 meter run for the boys, placing 15th with a time of 10:22.

Aja Blount came in sixth in the shot put with a distance of 32-11.25, and Meghan Hemingway was eighth in the javelin with a distance of 103-06.

In jumping events, Bryan Morris was sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 42-10.50, and Jessica Hendricks placed 14th in the long jump with a distance of 15-03.25.

The EPC championships were scheduled to finish on Wednesday.
