The 2016 Carpenter Cup Classic, a 16-team tri-state all-star high school baseball tournament, is scheduled to start in just a few weeks. Tryouts for the Lehigh Valley team will be held on May 15, 22 and 29 at DeSales University from 9 a.m. - noon. The information meeting will also be held at DeSales on May 12 at 8:30 p.m. for interested players. Rain date for any canceled practices will be on May 30.

This year’s Lehigh Valley team will be finalized by May 31. A mandatory team and alternates practice will be held shortly after on June 12. Lehigh Valley’s opening round game will be on June 15 against Mercer Country (NJ) at UYA Showcase Field in FDR Park and 12:30 p.m.

The semifinals round and championship game will be played at Citizens Bank Park. Semifinals are scheduled for Tuesday, June 21. The championship is set for Friday, June 24, at 10 a.m.

Joe Pirro is the General Manager for team Lehigh Valley with manager Ted Plessl also in charge. This will mark the team’s 24th season in the tournament, which has compiled a 32-20 all-time record and won three championships (1998, 2001 and 2011).
