Visit the Macungie Farmers Market May 19 for grand opening
The Macungie Farmers Market will hold its 10th season grand opening 4 to 7 p.m. May 19. The market features local family farmers providing home grown food: fruits, vegetables, meat products, eggs, baked goods, plants and more. The farmers market will be open 4 to 7 p.m. every Thursday through October except Aug. 25. Parking is available at the park parking lot and along North Walnut Street.
The Lower Lehigh Lions will hold a flea market and garage sale 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 7 at Macungie Memorial Park. The rain date is May 8. All 300 spots are sold.
Macungie’s Relay For Life’s main spring event will be held 4 p.m. May 13 to 4 p.m. May 14. This year’s theme is Dr. Seuss. The luminaria ceremony will be held 9 p.m. May 13 and survivors and caregivers laps 11 a.m. May 14. There will be raffles, food and fun for all ages and musical entertainment by Common Bond and Under Pressure. Relay For Life is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to raising funds for the American Cancer Society for its cancer education, programs, advocacy and research.
The Mid-Atlantic Cavy Breeders Association Show will be held May 14 and 15 at Macungie Memorial Park.
Macungie Rod and Gun Club will hold its annual children’s fishing contest 8 a.m. to noon May 14 at Swabia Creek behind Allen Organ. Each registered child receives a hot dog and soda. Arrive early to register.

The Macungie VFW will host Memorial Day activities May 30 beginning with a flag raising 8:30 a.m. The parade will begin 10 a.m. The parade route will be on Main Street from Buttonwood to Poplar streets. There will be Memorial Day celebrations at Macungie Memorial Park following the parade.
Macungie Pool will be open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 28 to Aug. 28; noon to 8 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekends. On weekdays toddler time is 11 a.m. to noon. Discounted family memberships are offered until June 1. Swim lessons are available. For information, call 610-966-5757.
