Five members of Whitehall High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and adviser Carol Jo Reitz attended the 2016 Pennsylvania State Leadership Conference April 11-13 at Hershey Lodge and Convention Center.
During the regional competition held at Lehigh Carbon Community College in Schnecksville Jan. 5, Matt Dobeck, Andrew Hawk and Eric Smith placed first in sport and entertainment management; Isis Lassiter placed first in public speaking II; and Dimple Pinnam came away with fifth place in accounting I - qualifying all of them for the state competition.
In addition to competing in their categories, the members attended several workshops during the three-day event focusing on business as well as leadership qualities.
FBLA is a national career and technical student organization whose mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. Nationally, there are more than 250,000 members.
The 19 members of the Whitehall High School chapter are part of Region 28 and the growing Pennsylvania membership.
