Q: What grade are you in?
A: I am in the 12th grade at Emmaus High School.
Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?
A: My favorite subject is chemistry. I took the honors and Advanced Placement levels of the class at Emmaus and enjoy the challenge of performing lab experiments. It is really interesting to see how different chemical processes can be implemented for greater efficiency in the world around us.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: Recently I was named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist for my success on the PSAT exam. I have also received membership to National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society here at Emmaus High School. In terms of academics, I am on the Principal’s Honor Roll and plan to stay on the list for the remainder of my senior year.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: I take part in several clubs at school, including Pennsylvania Math League, Computer Science League, the Stinger and the academic team. In addition, I have been a member of the Emmaus varsity boys tennis team and received a varsity letter for my accomplishments. Outside of school, I participate in the annual March for Babies walk to fight against birth defects in newborns and volunteer for other events sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Health Network.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: After high school, I plan to attend college and major in chemical engineering, with a minor/background in computer science. I look to obtain a graduate degree in the field or get a job focused on materials processing and synthesis for advancements in daily living.
Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A: My biggest challenge so far is learning how to move on from past mistakes and look toward a better future. I often find myself trying to correct things that I can no longer fix and have slowly gotten better at focusing on the present throughout my high school experience.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I want to be remembered for being sincere and considerate to those around me, and the greatest friend I could possibly be.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My dad, Minesh, my mom, Sapna and my dog, Reus.
Q: Do you have someone you look up to?
A: For all my life, I have looked up to my father. He came to the United States with limited resources and created a life for himself and his family as a manager of agency training at Prudential. It goes without saying that he is the hardest working person I have ever known and I could not be where I am without him. He pushes me to exceed expectations and is a constant source of support and guidance, something for which I will always be grateful.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: Someday, you may just be a memory to those around you. Do your best to be a good one.
