LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

To the Editor,

Too many children are living under terrible circumstances.

With that being said, I would love to become a foster care caseworker.

Whether it’s living with an abusive parent or an alcoholic, it can be difficult for a child to live a regular life because of the emotional and physical pain. I would love to be able to help them get away as fast as possible before too much damage is done. Although some cases would be disturbing or pitiful, the sooner the child is taken away from this living arrangement the better.

I don’t know what it is like to live like this, but I have met some people who have had to deal with poor living conditions and don’t know how to get the help they need. Not only would I be able to help out the child, but a foster care caseworker also has to conduct regular visits to ensure the child is safe and receiving adequate care in a secure environment.

If the court decides the child will eventually return home, it can cause many painful memories to resurface making it difficult for the child to feel safe at home.

Home is supposed to be a place where you can feel safe. Imagine what it can feel like when the one place you can escape all your problems, is the place where they all begin?

Although it can be extremely difficult to hear each child’s story, making sure they live in a safe environment without worrying what may happen if they say or do the wrong thing is critical. Therefore, I would love to become a foster care caseworker.
