Fire police to help at Trexlertown celebration

Heidelberg Supervisor David Fink reported at the board’s March meeting that on July 16 the Good Will Fire Company, Trexlertown, will celebrate its 100th anniversary by hosting the Four County Fireman’s Association Parade.

Fink requested, and the board approved, Germansville fire police personnel to participate in the event, helping with parking, etc.

Director of Parks and Recreation Steve Bachman, announced “Night in the Country” will be on Aug. 20.

Bachman also noted the new Weisenberg Park is set to be operational in 2017.

The environmental advisory council announced it would again be offering a $100 scholarship to a qualified senior at Northwestern Lehigh High School.

During public comment, the board entertained the possibility of vacating the end section (from Saegersville to the blacktop) of Jones Road rather than making costly and constant repairs.

“I’m not for or against it. I’m just saying we spend a lot of money trying to fix the road,” board member Rodney Schlauch Jr. said.

“I would make the suggestion the property owners along that area receive a notice saying we are considering vacating and ask for their opinions and feedback,” Fink recommended.

During discussion, it was noted Saegersville and Reservoir roads are possible alternatives.
