Assistant football coach is hired

Robert Holmes Jr. has been hired as assistant football coach for the Northampton Area High School Konkrete Kids.

The Northampton Area School District board of education voted 7-0, with two school directors absent at the March 21 meeting, to approve Holmes at a stipend of $4,859, effective July 1 through June 30, 2017.

The school board voted to approve the resignation of Matthew Walters as assistant football coach, effective Feb. 23, at the March 7 school board meeting.

In other business at the March 21 meeting, school directors voted 7-0 to approve:

The resignations of Donna Reph, instructional assistant, for retirement, effective April 1; Susan Braker, psychological services secretary, for retirement, effective June 30; and Susan Beal, instructional assistant, effective June 8 or the last student day of the 2015-16 school year;

Keystone prep instructors Lauren Belowich, algebra I, and Bernadette Rabel, biology, each at $50.15 an hour;

Tara Mrazik and John Bendekovits to attend Propose an App Challenge at Penn State University, College of Information Science, along with five high school students, April 12, State College, at a cost of $200, included in the board-approved curriculum budget;

Tara Mrazik, Maryanne Miller, Neali Feimster, Jaclyn Grejda, Matthew Greenplate and Ryan Brobst to attend the DECA ICDC along with 48 DECA students, April 22-28, Nashville, Tenn., at a cost of $2,500, included in the board-approved curriculum budget;

A three-year contract with Environmental Abatement Associates Inc., Kingston, for testing and monitoring of asbestos in district buildings in compliance with the Asbestos Hazards Emergency Response Act, May through April 2019, with a 0-percent increase as follows: semi-annual surveillance, $3,600; one-time reinspection, $1,440; additional air monitoring and project management, $75 per hour (if required); and other services (if required), $60 per hour plus lab costs and equipment fees;

A three-year agreement, June through June 2019, to participate in the Microsoft Enrollment for Education Solutions software licensing consortium at an annual cost of $38,405;

Two-year extension for trash removal-recycling services to Chrin Hauling Inc., at $4,220.75 per month, July 1 through June 30, 2018; and

Donation of 420 elementary-level books to NASD from the Logistics & Material Handling program at LCTI and First Book.

School directors voted 8-0 with one director absent at the March 7 meeting to approve:

The resignations of Anthony Messina, custodian, Franklin Elementary School, effective March 31, and Tiffany Nagy, assistant cheerleading coach, effective at the end of the 2015-16 season;

An extension to unpaid childrearing leave of absence for Valerie Sharkazy through April 26, with insurance;

Marie Rodrigues, dance team coach, to chaperone four students to the Dance Championship Competition, Wildwood, N.J., April 28, 29, 30 and May 1, at a cost of approximately $440, included in the board-approved 2015-16 high school budget;

Anita Mateyak, James Chuss and seven FBLA students to compete in the FBLA state competition and leadership conference, Hershey, April 10, 11, 12 and 13, at a cost to the district to not exceed $1,941.46, included in the board-approved 2015-16 curriculum budget;

Jeanette Briody, assistant girls soccer coach, $1,708; Lauren Sniscak, assistant cheerleader coach, $2,620; and Kayla Bringenberg, assistant cheerleader coach, $1,747, each effective July 1 through June 30, 2017;

Amy Grabfelder, short-term substitute kindergarten teacher, George Wolf Elementary School, through on or about April 26, at $150 per day, no benefits, retroactive to Dec. 14, 2015;

Tammie Tacker, head teacher, Siegfried Elementary School, $1,092.42, for the remainder of the 2015-16 school year;

A three-year service agreement with H.T. Lyons to annually service, test and document the district’s 18 back-flow preventers at an annual cost of $2,060, which is a 0-percent increase, from March 1 through Feb. 28, 2019; and

UGI Energy Services to provide the district’s natural gas purchases per the master natural gas sales agreement and two confirmation agreements.
