Sing for America will present an exclusive, one night only performance of “Godspell” 7 p.m. at Mercy School For Special Learning, 830 S. Woodward St., Allentown. Net proceeds benefit Mercy – the Lehigh Valley’s only private school for children and adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities and military families of the Lehigh Valley. Lehigh Carbon Community College will host the 13th annual LCCC Foundation Scholarship Clay Shoot at Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays in Coplay. The event is open to the public and registrations are now being accepted. All tournament proceeds benefit need-based scholarships and grants for LCCC students. There is a registration fee.

Entry includes 100 rounds of clay shooting, shells for the event, refreshments, awards and a clam bake, courtesy of Sam Owens Restaurant. Participants receive a commemorative souvenir. The Shelter House Society will hold its annual Patriots’ Day Dinner 6:30 p.m. at Citizens Fire House #2, 10th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, Emmaus. Parking and entrance (with handicap ramp) is behind the building. Following a short patriotic program, “Pieces of Eight,” a girls barbershop chorus, will perform selections from the early American barbershop traditions. The chorus is directed by Debbie Keretz, former director of the award winning Lehigh Valley Chapter of Sweet Adelines. Reservations are required for dinner and the program. The Borough of Alburtis will welcome May with a host of festivities at Lock Ridge Park, noon to 5 p.m. in a Spring Fling celebration organized by the Alburtis Borough Revitalization Committee. The centerpiece of the day will feature a 2 p.m. pageant in classic English tradition with Renaissance music, Maypole dancing and the crowning of the Queen of the May, Juliette Confer, the daughter of Paul and Francine Confer. Juliette made her May Day pageant debut in 1998 at the age of three months and has participated annually ever since.

Dancers, archers, gypsies, singers, musicians, a jester and members of the court round out the May Day production.

Craft displays, food vendors and community organizations will be featured on the park grounds noon until 5 p.m. The park can be entered from either Franklin or Church streets in Alburtis.

Judith Stanczak, RN MSN, deputy administrator III, from the Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services, will present a seminar on dementia and depression 11:15 a.m. at Hope United Church of Christ, 1031 Flexer Ave., Allentown. Stanczak will discuss the difference between these two illnesses and local services available.

The Macungie Band will reprise its program performed recently in Pittsburgh at the Association of Concert Bands 38th Convention at its spring concert 3 p.m. at Jordan Lutheran Church, 5103 Snowdrift Road, Orefield. Marches, “The Game Preserve March” by Albertus Myers, “Hampden Firemen” by G. R. Rehrer (a member of the Ringgold Band of Reading) and the “Macungie Band Sesquicentennial March,” written by Lewis Buckley, the retired director of the U.S. Coast Guard Band for the Macungie Band, will be played. Another piece commissioned by the band, “And the Bands Played On,” by Jared Spears is also planned. The Emmaus High School Counseling Department will host the fourth annual college fair 6 to 8 p.m. in the Emmaus High School gymnasium, 500 Macungie Ave., Emmaus. Approximately 140 post-secondary institutions, including but not limited to two- and four- year colleges, trade and technical schools and military representatives will be in attendance.
