NWL welcomes the Class of 2029

Members of Northwestern Lehigh’s Class of 2029 were welcomed to the school district as they attended kindergarten registration April 6 and 7.

“I’m nervous but excited at the same time,” said Desiree Bullar, who was registering daughter Hailey. “I had a pretty good experience when I went to elementary school in Bristol.

“Honestly, I hope things are the same [for her].”

Bullard, who moved into the district in September, said she heard good things about the school district.

“The school district where I lived is not as good as this one,” she said.

Yheimy Posso accompanied son Saul Lopez to the registration.

“He’s excited about riding the bus with his brothers,” said Lopez. “I’m excited for him.”

Susie and Mike Fritzinger had their son Frank in tow.

“I expect to be crying on the first day but I’m good so far,” said Susie Fritzinger.“ My second [child] will be harder [to enroll].”

Cayden Lentz was there with his mother who admitted she “was having a mommy moment” earlier in the day.

“He’s my only baby but I’m excited for him,” said Vanessa Lentz. “He already knows how to write his name.”

This year, kindergarten registration took place in the gymnasium at Weisenberg Elementary School.

The districts’ two elementary schools alternate in hosting registration.

Each pre-registered family was given a 20-minute slot during which time children visited various stations where they were screened in vision, hearing and speech.

Each child could meet and chat with one of the four kindergarten teachers while parents could meet with school personnel including the school nurse or secretaries and members of the PTO.

Families were given a “Welcome to Kindergarten” brochure orienting them to the world of education that included messages from the superintendent, principals and kindergarten teachers.

Hints on preparing youngsters for school were also included.

Children in Northwestern Lehigh School District who will be 5 on or before Sept. 1 may be registered for kindergarten.
