Whitehall-Coplay School Board approved the issuance of the district’s general obligation bonds, series A of 2016, of which the proceeds will be used to refund a portion of the district’s general obligations bonds, series 2006 and finance cost of issuance.
After the meeting, Business Manager Michael Malay told The Press the refinancing of the bonds would provide savings to the district.
“The district will save $1,870,398 spread out between now and June 30, 2030,” Malay said.
All present members of the board voted in support of the motion. Lloyd Schafer did not attend the meeting.
In other business, the school board approved the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency’s Designation of Agent Resolution for severe winter storms and snowstorms for Winter Storm Jonas Jan. 22-23, 2016, and for financial assistance.
Treasurer Arthur Taschler Jr. said, “This is reimbursement for money-clearing snow, considering it was a federal disaster.”
In other matters, Dr. Barbara Chomik reported the Whitehall-Coplay Graduates of Distinction ceremony is set for April 21.
