On April 4 the Scholastic Scrimmage team placed first at the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit competition, where they competed against 14 teams from area high schools. The four-member varsity squad includes Mollie Langan and Mark Garger, both high school juniors, Nicholas Carolan, a senior and Gretchen Johnson, a senior and team captain. The team will travel to Harrisburg April 29 to compete in the state competition.
The National Honor Society chapter at ACCHS will host a coffeehouse for students to showcase their musical talents 4 p.m. April 14 in Masson Auditorium. Parents and friends are welcome to attend. There is a cost for admission.
April 15, is the last date for students to turn in service hour forms. ACCHS students are required to fulfill a certain number of hours every year doing service through their community, parish, or school.
Freshmen must complete five hours of service; sophomores, 10 hours; juniors, 15 hours and seniors, 20 hours.
Central also awards a special recognition to students who complete three times their required number of hours. One third of those hours must be served within the Central City Project, an organization at ACCHS serving center city Allentown through community dinners, tutoring and other activities. Students who meet the criteria are inducted into the Day-Maurin Service Society at the end of each school year; are given a special cord to wear at graduation and two exceptional seniors --- one boy, one girl --- receive a special scholarship.
Service is an important part of a Central Catholic education.
