A fire destroyed a two-story home just after midnight April 1 at 5208 Hoffman Drive, North Whitehall Township.

A neighbor from behind saw the flames in the garage, ran up and banged on the doors to wake the family.

All four family members, two parents and two children, got out safely, although it was reported they lost some pets.

The fire appears to have started in the garage.

The high winds caused the flames to spread quickly but no surrounding homes were affected or in danger.

According to Lehigh County assessment records, the home is owned by Fred and Kara Castro.
