A 50-year-old man was arrested after a five-hour standoff April 3 in the 8500 block of Rextown Road, Washington Township.
According to an affidavit of probable cause obtained from the office of District Judge Rod Beck, Slatington, Troy Arling Long, during an argument with his brother Ted Long, 48, of Walnutport, allegedly took a Winchester 30/30 rifle from a bedroom, chambered a round and pointed the barrel at his brother’s forehead, cocked the hammer and asked him “Do you want to live or die?”
Ted Long then fled the home and called 911, the affidavit states.
State Police Troop M Bethlehem say an arrest and search warrant was obtained and police attempted to serve it at Long’s home.
Due to the circumstances, Rextown Road was closed for approximately five hours from Welshtown and Mountain roads.
According to police, Long came out of his home without incident around 10:45 p.m.
He was charged with making terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
He was transported to the Lehigh County Booking Center, police say.
According to Lehigh County criminal court records, Long was arraigned April 4 before District Judge Karen C. Devine, Allentown.
He is being held in Lehigh County Prison on $15,000 monetary bail.
