LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Jordan Kamp

Q. What grade are you currently in?

A. I am currently in 12th grade at Salisbury High School.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject would have to be anything history-related. I really enjoyed AP World History and AP US History. To me, history is like a puzzle and it sets the stage for how we live today and who we are, and it’s interesting to see that transition.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. Academically, I am in National Honor Society and I was the Salisbury girls soccer Scholar Athlete this year. I was also on the “A” Team for debate this year. Athletically, for soccer, I was a three-time Colonial League First Team selection, a three-time Morning Call All-Area First Team selection, a two-time Lehigh Valley Live Second Team selection and a three-time Salisbury Defensive MVP selection. This year I was a team captain. I was also a nominee for the 2015 All-American game.

Q. What extracurricular activities are you involved in, both in and out of school?

A. I am involved in the student advisory, No Place For Hate, debate, environmental club and National Honor Society. I played varsity soccer for four years at Salisbury and I play club soccer for Continental FC Delco ECNL out of Philadelphia. I also participate in Core Excell training and I have a part-time job at Schuylkill Valley Sports.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My plans after high school are to attend St. John’s University in Queens, N.Y. I signed in February to play Division 1 soccer and I also was recently selected into the honors program for a major in government and politics and a minor in international business. Ultimately, I would like to pursue a career in law.

Q. What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A. My biggest challenge so far would have to be staying mentally tough. This year, especially, has provided a lot of injuries for not only myself, but also for parts of my family. It’s difficult to stay positive and focused when so much is going on behind the scenes. That has been the biggest challenge I have had to deal with and overcome by far.

Q. What do you want to be remembered for?

A. I’d like to be remembered for more than just my athletic footprint. At my signing day at Salisbury, I really appreciated the fact that as my coaches spoke about me, they didn’t just talk about my athletics. They also talked about the type of student and person I am. I am involved in many other things besides soccer and I’d like to be remembered for those as well.

Q. Who is in your family?

A. My family consists of myself, my wonderful parents Joel and Elizabeth, and my two younger siblings Jacob and Hannah.

Q. Do you have someone you look up to?

A. I’d say the people I look up to most would have to be my parents. They’ve sacrificed so much to let me achieve my dream and they’ve shown me the type of person I would like to be– someone who helps others achieve their dreams and find success.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. If I could give advice to my peers, I would say take advantage of every opportunity you get throughout life and to follow your passion, whatever it may be. If you aren’t enjoying what you do, then it’s time to find something new.
