Ancient Oak Women will meet

The next Ancient Oak Women’s Organization meeting will be 7:30 p.m. April 6 at St. Paul’s UCC Church, 1249 Trexlertown Road, Trexlertown. A speaker will attend the meeting to provide help with organizing.

A hoagie sale is planned with delivery April 19.

Start collecting items for the Ancient Oak yard sale which is scheduled for April 30.

The Friends of the Lower Macungie Township Library will hold a spring book sale 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 6 and 7 at the library. The preview night will be held 5 to 7:30 p.m. May 5 for members only. Memberships will be available at the door. All proceeds benefit the library. Contact the library at 610-966-6964 or stop by the circulation desk for more information.

Lower Macungie Township Library will host a series of free programs and discussions following the theme “Latino Americans: 500 Years of History.” The library is one of 200 institutions across the country selected to participate in the project, which strives to facilitate informed discussion in the community about Latino history and culture. Funding for this project is provided by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association, as part of an NEH initiative called The Common Good: The Humanities in the Public Square.

Experience local culture as the Lower Macungie Township Library embarks on a small walking tour in Allentown 11 a.m. May 21. The first stop will be to the Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, 423 W. Walnut St. The group will experience a guided tour of the museum’s cultural exhibits and displays. Next the group will walk less than half a mile to the second stop at approximately noon at the Allentown Art Museum of the Lehigh Valley, 31 N. 5th St. Here a guided tour of the museum’s cultural offerings will be given. Registration is required and will be limited to 25 adults who are able to walk and stand with no problems and who are able to go to both locations.
