Colleen Grablick, the Emmaus High School columnist for the East Penn Press, earned first place in the feature story category of the 2016 Student Keystone Press Awards.
Grablick, a senior, took home the top prize for her entry “Remembering Abby: 4 months later, EHS holds purple out in girl’s memory.” The story appeared in the Emmaus High School newspaper “The Stinger.”
Grablick writes the Hornet Happenings column for the East Penn Press and is editor-in-chief of the “The Stinger.”
Grablick also was recognized, along with Qurania Draklellis, with a first place award for the layout and design of the entry “50 bullets, 1 lockdown, and many questions.”
Other Emmaus student winners include: Angie Stein, who placed first in the cartoon/graphic illustration division for the entry “PDA (Please Desist Affection); Rachel Reed, who earned an honorable mention in the sports division for the entry “Rushing to new records” and first place for the feature photo for the entry “50 bullets, 1 lockdown, and many questions;” Katie Mest, who earned an honorable mention in the personality profile division for the entry “Scheitrum’s return home: EHS courtside;” and Andrea Klick, who earned an honorable mention in the column division for the entry “Make It Klick.”
The Stringer staff garnered first place honors in the ongoing news coverage division for the entry “EHS lockdown: No arrests made, .22 caliber bullets found, according to DA” and in the public service/enterprise package division for the entry “50 bullets, 1 lockdown, and many questions.”
