Union Lutheran youth collecting clothing as fundraiser

The youth of Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, are collecting clothing, toys, and household items to be forwarded to Fashion Republic for distribution to needy people in the United States and overseas.

Clothing for all seasons and all ages will be welcomed.

Accessories such as purses, belts, backpacks, briefcases, shoes, boots, hats and scarves will be collected.

Household items made of fabric are needed. These include blankets, bedspreads, pillows, towels, curtains and quilts.

Soft toys, cars, trucks, airplanes, action figures, dolls and bicycles will be accepted.

Fashion Republic reimburses the youth a certain amount per pound.

The activity enables the young people to recycle and benefit others while also bringing in some funds for youth ministries.

Donations will be appreciated from everyone.

Items may be dropped off 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on April 8; from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. April 9; 9 a.m.to 10:30 a.m. on April 10; and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 11.

Union Lutheran’s Good Friday service begins 7 p.m. March 25.

Worship times for Easter Sunday are 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. (Rejoicing Spirits) and at 10:45 a.m.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, will have its Good Friday service 7:30 p.m. March 25.

On Easter morning, worshipers will meet 7 a.m. in the sanctuary, proceed to the cemetery for a sunrise service, then return to the church to celebrate communion.

Immediately following the sunrise service, attendees are invited to enjoy breakfast in fellowship hall.

At the 10:15 a.m. worship, a Living Cross will be featured.

Worshipers are invited to bring fresh flowers to place at the cross. The service includes music by a full choir and celebration of Holy communion.

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, offers a Tenebrae service and altar communion 7 p.m. Good Friday, March 25.

The Easter sunrise service is scheduled for 6:40 a.m. in the cemetery.

The morning continues with worship at 8 a.m. and at 10:30 a.m.

All Easter Sunday services include communion.
