At the March 17 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, Mack Trucks presented redesign and renovation plans of theMacungie facility.

Mack has proposed more parking along Alburtis Road, additional loading docks and more office space. The proposed plan will make for segregated parking. There will be a parking lot for employees and one for trucks.

Lehigh Valley Planning Commission representatives made a presentation about therole and responsibilities of the commission in the community including housing, industry and transportation.

The commission includes the boroughs of Emmaus, Macungie, Alburtis and Upper Milford and Lower Macungie and Upper Macungie townships

The brick bungalow on the Ciocca property continues to be a topic of discussion because it is an historical building. The problem with relocating the building involves utility wires, according to George Dowdy, a member of the planning commission. Ciocca has been cooperative and is not rushing the decision.

Julie McDonell, formerly of the parks and recreation committee, commented on the township hiring an in-house engineer. McDonell said with an in-house engineer, there is still a need for a firm from time to time and a single employee does not have a network of experts.

An ordinance was approved regarding parking on Creamery Road. No parking will be allowed on the east side of the road and within 900 feet of Route 100 as this will be the entrance into the new Grand View development.

An ordinance was approved for no parking zones on Industrial Park Way.

The dog park has been mapped out in Camp Olympic. The two acre area allows for one and a half acres for large dogs and one-half acre for small dogs.

A shredding event sponsored by state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, R-134th, will be held May 7.

The flashing yellow light signs at Willow Lane Elementary School now display the speed on the back of the signs. This allows the state police to catch speeders coming and going through the area.

The next meeting will be held 7 p.m. April 7 at the Lower Macungie Township municipal building, 3400 Brookside Road, Macungie.
