SHELTER HOUSE SOCIETY

The Shelter House Society will host its annual Patriots’ Day Dinner 6:30 p.m. April 30.

The event is held at Citizens Fire House #2, 10th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, Emmaus.

Parking and entrance with handicap ramp is available behind the building.

Following a short program, “Pieces of Eight,” a girls’ barbershop chorus will perform selections from the early American barbershop traditions. The chorus is directed by Debbie Keretz, former director of the award winning Lehigh Valley Chapter of Sweet Adelines.

Barbershop harmony has a long and textured history. Barbershop quartets are popular today and barbershop chorus, especially girls’ chorus, music has become a musical genre sought after for the qualities of multiple female voices. The “Pieces of Eight” chorus features singers in ninth through 12th grades.

Reservations are required for the dinner and program.
