Q: What grade are you in?
A: I’m in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.
Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?
A: My favorite subject is chemistry because it can be used to explain both large and very, very small phenomena. There is always new information to learn about in the world of chemistry.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: I’m the president of National Honor Society and the secretary of the Tri-M music honor society. I’ve also received an Excellence in Chemistry award as well as participating in District and Region chorus and orchestra. I’ve also gotten principal’s honor roll every semester of high school.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: I’m involved with EHS Chorale, Women’s Choir, Girls Concert Choir and a cappella, as well as the orchestra, Sinfonia and Chamber string groups at the high school. I’ve also been involved in all of the plays and musicals during my time at EHS, most recently playing Queen Aggravain in our spring production of “Once Upon a Mattress.” I’m also a founding member of the Maplewood Trio along with my good friends Kristin Erle and Mardochee Dade. The trio plays weddings and other gigs around the Valley.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: My next goal is to attend college for engineering and hopefully go on to graduate school.
Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A: My biggest challenge so far has been staying on top of school and all of my other activities. I try to do my best at everything I do and I often become overwhelmed. However, it’s all worth it because I’m doing what I love.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I want to be remembered as someone who was a hard worker in everything I do, but also someone who was kind and helpful to others. I sincerely hope I have earned the respect of my teachers and peers during my time at Emmaus.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My mother, Anna Marie, my father, Harry and my brother, Anthony. I also have a dog named Annie who I love more than anything else in the world; a guinea pig named Herbie and a red Betta fish named Ron.
Q: Do you have someone you look up to?
A: Someone who I look up to is my mom. Somehow she balances taking care of us while also having a job and still manages to be one of the most caring people I know. I hope I’ll be able to be like her someday.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: Don’t do what you think colleges want you to do. Join the clubs you want to join and take the classes you want to take. You’ll end up where you’re supposed to be as long as you’re honest with yourself. Just relax and do what you enjoy.
