Eyer Middle School presents ‘Pirates of Penzance, Jr.!’

Eyer Middle School will present “Pirates of Penzance, Jr.! March 17, 18 and 19. Stop by the Eyer Middle School main office for a ticket order form or print one out via the important forms page of the Eyer website. Tickets do not need to be ordered in advance, but seats are assigned and seating preference is given in the order requests are received.

Lower Macungie Middle School will present the musical “Cinderella” April 7, 8 and 9.

Concordia Lutheran Preschool will hold a spring cleaning fundraiser and Earth Day event 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 16 at Concordia Lutheran Church on Brookside Road. Acceptable items for the clothing drive include new and gently used clothing, shoes, coats, bedding, towels and stuffed animals. Tax donation receipts are available. There will be family friendly Earth Day activities 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. as well as food and a bake sale. For more information, call the church at 610-965-3265.

The Lower Macungie Firefighters Women’s Association will hold a Vera Bradley, Coach and Kors bingo 1 p.m. April 10 at the Lower Macungie Fire Department on Brookside Road. Doors open noon. For more information, call 484-239-3945.

The Lower Macungie Senior Citizens Club meets noon April 5 and 19 at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center. After a business meeting, members play bingo or card games.

AARP will offer two sessions of Safe Driving for Mature Drivers: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 22 and 29; and 5 to 9 p.m. April 21 and 28. AARP will also offer a refresher class for safe drivers 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 12.

The Lower Macungie Township library will be closed March 25.

A Sensory Storytime will be held 9:15 a.m. March 26. This storytime has a special focus on providing an opportunity for children who are differently-abled to participate in storytime. The materials are at a preschool level and sensory opportunities are available during the program. The storytime is open to all and registration is not required. A responsible adult must participate in the storytime with each child.

The Lower Macungie Library Book Club will meet 10:30 a.m. April 6 to discuss “Volcano Lover” by Lucy Susan Sontag. The book for May 4 is “Queen of the Big Time” by Adrianna Trigiani.

The teen advisory board will meet 3:30 p.m. March 18.

A program, “Adherence: Health and Medication for Patients, Family Members and Caregivers” will be held 6 p.m. March 22. Medication Information Specialist Lori Samer, RPh. with Medication Matters will discuss why medications are not taken correctly and the consequences and give tips to improve adherence.

The library is accepting books for the spring book sale. The following items will not be accepted: magazines, textbooks, Reader’s Digest condensed books, cassette tapes, VHS tapes and any moldy or water damaged books. Book sorting takes place 8:30 to 10 a.m. every Thursday morning. Volunteers are welcome.

The book sale will be held 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 6 and 7 with a bag sale 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. May 7. Member preview night will be 5 to 7:30 p.m. May 5. All proceeds benefit the library.

The Friends of the Library will meet 10 a.m. March 19 in the library.

There will be a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny 9 to 10:30 a.m. March 19 at the community center. For more information, call 610-966-6924.

Habitat Lehigh Valley ReStore will have a truck available at the community center to collect unwanted but new and gently used furniture, appliances and building supplies for resale 9 a.m. to noon April 9.

The community center offers a number of activities including a safe sitter program April 9. Adult classes include cake decorating and feng shui. For more information, contact the community center at 610-966-6924.

Family open gym time is 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays for ages infant through 10 years with a parent. Proof of residency is required.

Yard waste site hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The center is closed Tuesday and Thursday. Be prepared to show photo I.D. as proof of residency.
