Jacob Feiertag

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I am in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite subject is physics. Physics can be applied to every aspect of life, especially in sports. My physics class with Collin Riegel, Matt Hamati and Ian Nakao was the most fun class I was ever a part of at Emmaus High School.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: I was honored to be selected to be a member of National Honor Society and German Honor Society, Principal’s Honor Roll every marking period in high school, Academic Excellence Award three times over 4.0 GPA, I received Runner’s Runner Award for the 2015 cross country season, Most Improved Player Award for the 2014-2015 basketball season, two time medalist at the 2015 EPC track meet in 2015, two time medalist at the 2015 District XI track meet and I am a three sport letterman.

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: I am involved in varsity cross country, basketball and track and field at EHS. I play AAU basketball in the spring and mens basketball leagues in the summer. I am also a part of National Honor Society and German Honor Society.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: My goal after high school is to graduate from Saint Joseph’s University with a degree in biology and attend medical school.

Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A: The biggest challenge thus far in my senior year was breaking my left forearm in December [2015] during basketball practice. Watching my teammates play without me has been very frustrating because I am a competitive player on the court. This is my senior season and I want to contribute to the team’s success. This injury has taught me to appreciate good health and to cherish the ability to play a sport.

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?

A: I want to be remembered for my work ethic in the classroom and in sports. Being known as an athlete is great, but being known as an academic scholar is even better. Along with this, I want to be remembered as someone who is always respectful to others and sets a good example.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: My family consists of my parents, Alan and Patty, my brother, Nate and my sister, Rachel.

Q: Do you have someone you look up to?

A: Someone I look up to is my brother Nathan. Nate is playing Division II basketball at Bloomsburg University, where he has a 4.0 GPA and is majoring in biology/pre med. I will be running Division I track and field at Saint Joseph’s University this fall, in which I will also be majoring in biology/pre med. I want to continue my academic and athletic success, as my brother is doing now at Bloomsburg University.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: Here is a list of high school advice. Cross country is one of the hardest high school sports. Don’t get injured. Make sure you have fun in classes, it makes classes go by quicker. Go to school events; you’ll miss them once you graduate from high school. Have a balance between having fun and studying.
