Upper Macungie Township police are asking for the public’s help with solving an armed robbery which occurred around 2:50 a.m. Feb. 26 at the Starlite Diner, 233 Route 100.
According to police a 47-year-old male employee from Allentown was inside the building, which was closed to patrons.
He was in the process of cleaning the dining area when three individuals entered the diner and confronted him.
According to police, one of the suspects attacked the employee, striking him in the head.
The suspects, two males and one female, then attempted unsuccessfully to force entry to an ATM in the lobby of the building before fleeing with cash obtained from inside the restaurant.
The three were wearing ski masks and dark clothing during the robbery.
Police say at least one suspect, a dark-skinned male, was armed with a black handgun.
The female wore a jacket with a fur-lined hood.
The employee was transported to the hospital for evaluation due to the wound on his head.He was treated and released.
