Q: What grade are you in?
A: I am in the 12th grade at Emmaus High School.
Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?
A: My favorite subject is mathematics because it is a very rational topic and it explains many physical phenomena.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: This has been a very special award to me and I thank you for that. I have received other awards and these include the National AP Scholar, AP Scholar with Distinction and just AP Scholar. I have also received many other awards but they are not as notable.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: Yes, as a matter of fact, I participate in clubs such as Envirothon, Model UN, Academic Team, Future Business Leaders of American, track, cross country, Pennsylvania Math League, Chamber, Sinfonia, Orchestra and the American Computer Science League.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: My next goal would probably be to go to college and travel.
Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A: I think that the biggest challenge I have faced would be getting to bed on time. However, the other non-sleep related challenge would probably be balancing my schedule.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I would want to be remembered for doing something good or inventing something new.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My mom, Weihong Xie and my dad Lingxue Pan.
Q: Do you have someone you look up to?
A: If the person has to be living, it would be John Oliver, the comedian. If it can be anyone, dead or alive, then I would have to say Alexander Hamilton.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: Do not be afraid to fail. It is through failure that we develop a sense of conviction in what we do and believe in. Dreams change and that is fine, just don’t be afraid to do what is right.
