Join The Press in wishing Pat Plouffe a happy birthday
Pat Plouffe has been a contributor to the East Penn Press for 47 years.
She began writing when asked by a friend to replace her as the Alburtis columnist. “With no experience but with a desire to write, I agreed,” Pat said. “My weekly column allowed me to meet my Alburtis neighbors and to learn the history of the area. A few years later I was asked to add the Ancient Oak column to my job until a correspondent could be hired.”
That was 41 years ago.
Pat will celebrate her 90th birthday March 13. We would like you to join us in wishing her well on this milestone by sending her birthday cards. She is currently in Whitehall Manor, 1177 Sixth St., Whitehall, PA 18052.
In Ancient Oak news, the Ancient Oak Women’s Association will meet 6:30 p.m. March 2 at St. Paul’s UCC Church, 1249 Trexlertown Road, Trexlertown. Participants are invited to share the Seuss-Spirit by dressing as a favorite Seuss character. Don’t forget to bring a camera for pictures with the famous cat.
The library will host a local author fair 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 12. All day, authors will promote their books and materials throughout the library. With over 25 authors, you’re sure to strike up a conversation with an author, or maybe even find a book or two to take home.
