EHS orchestra fundraiser celebrates music of all genres

On Feb. 19, Emmaus High School students celebrated their appreciation for music at the orchestra’s annual coffeehouse.

The night featured an array of genres, ranging from fiddling to hard rock. Junior Joel Shimer served as the master of ceremonies for the evening and performed a few songs himself. The night served as one of the biggest fundraisers for the orchestra and was organized by director Connie Arnold and orchestra president, senior Kristin Erle. Erle also performed several times throughout the night, on guitar, piano and violin.

For the first time in coffeehouse history, an EHS alumnus, Tyler Kennedy, returned to the cafeteria stage. Now a student at Muhlenberg College, Kennedy began the violin with Arnold in 2003 and now studies music and French in college. He played a cover song on his guitar, a Celtic violin piece, a fiddling piece, as well as his own original song on guitar. He wrote the lyrics both in French and English.

The night also featured a basket raffle and a 50/50 raffle.
