Student of the Week

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I am currently in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite subject is physics. I love learning about how and why things work the way they do and as I am planning to study engineering I am looking forward to continuing studying physics in college.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: In addition to receiving an award for academic excellence my junior year, I received an award for excellence in American Studies II Honors my sophomore year. I was inducted into the German Honor Society at Emmaus High School my junior year.

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: I hold the office position of editor in the Emmaus Key Club and have been in Key Club since my freshman year. I play baseball for Emmaus High School. I am in National Honor Society as well. I work at Lehigh Country Club as a server’s assistant.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: My next goal after high school is to study aerospace engineering in college.

Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A: My biggest challenge so far has been getting cut from the high school baseball team my freshman year. It was devastating after dreaming for so long of playing at the high school, but after a year of hard work I was able to make the team my sophomore year.

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?

A: I want to be remembered as someone who had amazing work ethics and someone who always tried to help others in any way I could.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: My parents are Robert and Suzanne Mazzella. My younger brother is Thomas and my younger sister is Elizabeth. I have a dog named Bella.

Q: Do you have someone you look up to?

A: I look up to my parents, who have always been supportive of me. I also look up to my architecture teacher Mr. Didra, who has taught me so much not only about drafting and architecture, but also helped me mature and feel prepared to face college and the professional world. I also look up to my friends and peers, who always push me to be my best and are always supportive.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: My advice to my peers would be to always work as hard as possible to learn about what interests you and to do it as soon as possible. I’ve always loved the Ben Franklin quote “Never leave that until tomorrow which you can do today.”
